In the tranquil countryside of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, siblings Vanya and Sonia have spent their lives caring for their ailing parents. Their peaceful existence is shattered when their glamorous movie star sister, Masha, arrives unannounced with her much younger, narcissistic lover, Spike.
Over a whirlwind weekend, the siblings confront their long-held grievances and unrealized dreams. Durang’s Tony Award-winning comedy brilliantly intertwines contemporary absurdity, creating a hilarious and poignant exploration of family dynamics, regret, and the quest for meaning in an ever-changing world.

Meet the Cast
-
Brian Pilling
as Vanya
Brian is thrilled to be making his Voodoo Theatre debut in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Fun fact: it's been 29 years since Brian made his Christopher Durang debut, in a star-making turn as Bruce in Beyond Therapy at Westminster College. (Note: Star-making turn might be an exaggeration. But two Christopher Durgan plays in 30 years feels like a good run. Plus he also did a monologue from The Actor's Nightmare once.) Favorite roles on stage include Jes in The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged, George in Chapter Two (Vanya's father would feel mixed about the nod to Neil Simon), Alfred in Happy, and Uncle Peck in How I Learned to Drive. Favorite roles off stage include husband, father, avid reader, bumbling handyman, and 2nd-grade jump rope champion. Thanks to this marvelous cast and crew who made the process - and the product - so darned amazing, and for making this a place where we've been so happy.
-
Stacey Jenson
as Sonia
Stacey is thrilled to be working with Voodoo Theatre Company again after playing “Dance Moms/ Vanessa” in Dance Nation this past summer. Since arriving in SLC in 2016, she has performed on both stage and screen. Recent Utah theatre credits include: Angels in America – Millenium Approaches and Perestroika (Kallista); A Doll’s House, Part 2 (SLAC); Gidion’s Knot (Pinnacle); Ion (The Classical Greek Theatre Festival); Ideation, What We’re Up Against, Dinner and Page-to-Stage (Wasatch Theatre Company). Stacey holds a BFA in Acting from the University of Utah's Actor Training Program, an MFA in Acting from American Conservatory Theatre, and an MFA with Distinction in Voice Studies from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (London).
-
Stephanie Howell
as Masha
Stephanie is excited to be working with Voodoo Theatre Company for the first time! She most recently appeared as Marie in PYGmalion’s production of The Half-Life of Marie Curie. Other favorite roles include Juanita Brooks (Mountain Meadows; PYGmalion Productions), Judy (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time; Pioneer Theatre Company), Birgit (The Ice Front; Plan-B Theatre Company), Juliana (The Other Place; Utah Repertory Theatre), Gayle (Borderlands; Plan-B Theatre Company) and Jean (Good People; Salt Lake Acting Company.) Stephanie holds a B.S. in Theatre Arts from Northwestern University.
-
Harrison Lind
as Spike
Harrison J. Lind (Spike) is an actor, music maker, and sound designer from Salt Lake City. He graduated from the University of Utah’s Actor Training Program in 2020, and is the co-founder of Footpath Theatre Company. His most recent acting/music/sound credits include “Western Minerals and their Origins” and “The Wreck of the Queen Thomasina” with Footpath, which were performed at the Great Salt Lake Fringe and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals, respectively. He would like to thank all of the people who love him and will put up with seeing him in his underwear for this entire show.
-
Saey Kamtekar
as Nina
Saey Kamtekar is thrilled to be back on stage at Voodoo Theatre Company, where you may have seen them over the summer as Connie in Dance Nation. She is excited to continue her return to theatre with the support of her friends, family, and fellow actors.
Much like Nina, she’s just so happy to be included in this wonderful cast and show.
-
Ash Hipwell
as Cassandra
Ash is so ecstatic to be acting with Voodoo Theatre Company. She is honored for Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike to be her return show after a long acting hiatus.
